Alamgir Kabir is the president of Bengali Information and Employment Services(BIES). He is a  Financial Advisor in Toronto. He is an ex-Civil Servant of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. He has extensive experience in managing cooperatives in Bangladesh.

He did Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka and Post- graduation in Supply Chain Management and Project Management from Humber College in Toronto. He has a great deal of passion in helping people in different capacity.

He has great connectivity with the Bangladeshi diaspora in Ontario and involved himself in different socio-cultural activities here in Toronto since he immigrated to Canada.

Imam Uddin is a professional Career Specialist with over fifteen years of diverse industry experience in settlement and employment, democracy and human rights advocacy, and the media. As an experienced career counsellor and job developer, Imam has helped many individuals finding employment and conducted workshops for thousands of people on various job-related topics.

Imam has a Bachelor of Honours and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. He also has a Career and Work Counsellor Diploma and Social Service Worker Diploma from George Brown College, Toronto. Imam has a great passion for community development and has been involved in different non-profit agencies in the city of Toronto.

Golam Mostafa is a social work professional with over 10 years of experience in managing no profit agency’s programs and services in employment, settlement, mental health and social justice promotion.

He is trained in Social Service and Job Development from George Brown College in Toronto. He has a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy from the Institute of Social Studies in Hague, Netherlands. He is passionate about helping vulnerable people and promoting social justice.

NIzan Uddin is a social work professional having over 20 years of experience in managing poverty alleviation programs of not-for-profit international agencies.

He is trained and educated in Canada and Bangladesh. He worked for United Nations Development Programs, and CARE International for international development. He is currently working with the City of Toronto to support homeless people. He has a great passion to help vulnerable people to stand on their own feet and live a dignified life.

Jakia Shultana is a vocal artist of the Bangladesh media. She started her journey in performing arts as a hobby and continued to build a professional career for over more than 25 years which she continues from Canada as a freelancer.

Jakia owns and operates her own buying apparel business with her husband in Toronto. Furthermore, she continues to serve the Bangladeshi community by bringing them products made by Bangladeshi hands through Nipun North America. She completed her Master’s in Management from the National University Dhaka. Jakia enjoys providing support and knowledge to her community in her personal time and she wants to expand this to a level where she can make a greater impact.

Mahatab Uddin is a legal academic whose scholarship concerns the interfaces of law and sustainable development. He was an international mobility scholar of the Danish Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology as such he achieved his PhD in Public International Law on Climate Change and Sustainable Development from Aarhus University, Denmark. He was also a visiting PhD scholar at the Department of Law of Oslo University, Norway. Dr. Uddin accomplished his MSc in Sustainable Development jointly from Uppsala University and Swedish Agricultural University, Sweden. He obtained his LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Stockholm University, Sweden. He took his basic law degrees from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Lately, he received his Post Graduate Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR) with distinction from Humber College, Canada.

Dr. Uddin published and presented academic papers on climate change, marine environment, arctic governance, technology transfer, intellectual property laws and sustainable development related issues. Currently he is working on his forthcoming sole-authored book: ‘Climate Change Law, Technology Transfer and Sustainable Development’. He taught at different universities of Denmark and Bangladesh. He immigrated to Canada as a skilled worker in 2016 and has been living in Toronto. Dr. Uddin is a member of the ADR Institute of Ontario, and he also works as a private mediator and conflict resolution coach. He has shown his sincere commitment to work on promoting social, economic, and environmental development of the planet earth.

Syed Fakhruddin is a distinguished educator, educational planner, and administrator. He began his career in the Bangladesh Civil Service under the Ministry of Education and is now a Science and Special Education Teacher at a Toronto District School Board (TDSB) high school.

Syed holds a Bachelor of Honours and a Master’s in Botany from the University of Chittagong, a Bachelor and Master of Education from the University of Dhaka, and a Master of Arts (Education) from Deakin University, Australia. He also completed studies at the International Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (IIEP) in Paris and resource management at the College of St. Mark and St. John in England. In Canada, he furthered his qualifications at the University of Toronto and Queen’s University.

Nilanjana Datta is a dedicated family physician based in Toronto. She began her medical career in Bangladesh, earning her MBBS with a one-year internship at Dhaka Medical College in 2005. She moved to Canada in 2006 to pursue further opportunities, completing her MD at Dalhousie University in 2012, followed by residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2015.

Since 2015, Nilanjana has practiced at Malvern Medical Centre in Scarborough, Ontario, where she is known for providing comprehensive and compassionate care. She is also a Lecturer at the University of Toronto, sharing her expertise with medical students, residents, and physician assistant students. Additionally, she holds courtesy privileges with the Scarborough Health Network (SHN), enhancing her ability to deliver high-quality healthcare.

Nilanjana’s career is marked by her commitment to both patient care and medical education, making her a respected figure in Toronto’s healthcare sector.

Aubony Fairooz is a distinguished graduate from the Schulich School of Business, holding an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Currently, she excels as a consultant at EY Canada, where she plays a pivotal role in helping businesses execute strategic plans and adapt to changing markets. Aubony’s expertise and innovative approach have been instrumental in driving success for her clients.

Her longstanding connection to the Bengali Information and Employment Services (BIES) community began with summer student programming, where she quickly became an integral part of the community. She continues to actively contribute to youth development within BIES. Aubony’s passion for mentorship and helping others overcome barriers to success is evident in her dedication to supporting and guiding young individuals, ensuring they have the resources and encouragement needed to achieve their goals.
